SMPS Exclusive Tour | Diamonds & Gold: The Art Deco Skyscraper Northwest Style

Friday, March 20, 2026 | 3:30pm - 5:30pm

Take a trip back in time to the Roaring 20s. Following the horrors of World War I, architects began fusing modern structural advances with beautiful, lively, organic designs to create the style known as Art Deco. On this tour, you’ll discover diamonds and gold, and you’ll see how Northwest imagery was incorporated into the Deco elegance and innovation of these architectural gems. Featured stops include the Exchange Building, the Seattle Tower and Washington Athletic Club. On this tour, you will go back in time to visit lush lobbies and ornate commercial buildings to learn how technology, archeology and French design influences some of Seattle’s most impressive buildings.

Starts: Lobby of Fairmont Olympic Hotel - 411 University Street | Ends: Washington Athletic Club - 1325 6th Avenue

  • GENERAL ADMISSIONS = $25
  • SAF MEMBERS = $20

SMPS Exclusive Tour | The City & The Sound: Seattle's Waterfront

Friday, March 20, 2026 | 3:30pm - 5:30pm

From its beginnings, Seattle has been a city shaped by waterways. While early developments supported industrial trade rather than leisure and tourism, the removal of the Alaskan Way Viaduct and a new urban design by Field Operations (designers of The High Line, New York City) has transformed the waterfront into a lively public space, bringing together people, industry, infrastructure, and local ecosystems. On this tour, we’ll explore historic and redeveloped sites that blend Seattle’s maritime history and modern design to serve today’s diverse waterfront visitors.

Starts: Northeast corner of 1st Avenue and Marion Street | Ends: Overlook Walk above the Seattle Aquarium Ocean Pavilion - 1505 Alaskan Way

  • GENERAL ADMISSIONS = $25
  • SAF MEMBERS = $20
